BEIJING: The organizing committee for the 2nd Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) confirmed on March 1st that three of this year's Oscar favorites will be screened in the Beijing Film Panorama section, chinesefilms.cn reports.
They are the Oscar's Best Picture Award, The Artist, George Clooney's "The Descendants" and Best Foreign Language Film, "A Separation".
The committee was able to gather a batch of big names for last year's event, including "The King's Speech," "The Social Network," "Black Swan" and "True Grit". Director Darren Aronofsky also made an appearance at the opening ceremony of the 1st Beijing International Film Festival.
An official unveiled they are currently busy inviting more Academy Award winners and nominees, and there is a chance that some of the actors and actresses will be in attendance for this year's event.
Legendary director Martin Scorsese's 3D blockbuster "Hugo" and Woody Allen's fantasy romance "Midnight in Paris" are waiting for censorship approval from the Film Bureau of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT). If they succeed in passing, they will also be screened in the Beijing Film Panorama section .
